Last week we visited the C.A. Parsons Works Siemens site to launch the Newcastle phase of The Siemens Project. South Shields School received 50% funding for an F24 Kit car, £500 equipment grant, £500 attendance grant to attend the International Kit Car Finals at Rockingham as well as help from the Siemens Engineers and office staff at the site.
The day consisted of a site tour, which highlighted the incredible feats of engineering achieved in the UK as well as the huge scale of projects, which are undertaken at the site. The students then set to work starting the build and brainstorming car names. After this, some of the students with a more competitive streak, started to practice pit stops in our exhibition kit car.
Over all we had a great day and everyone left feeling enthused by the task. I think it is safe to say that team South Shields are one to watch this year. We wish them the best of luck for 2018.
