Greenpower Garage at the University of Hull

22 March 2018

Author: Karl White, Airco Training

The University of Hull has created 36m2 “Greenpower Garage” on campus to support Greenpower engagement in the area. The workshop contains all the tools necessary for fabrication and assembly of F24 Greenpower cars and components, including an extensive range of hand tools and battery powered power tools. The University also has a range of fabrication facilities which it is willing to offer Greenpower teams in the area access to, such as vacuum forming, laser cutting (wood & plastic only, up to 1,000 x 600mm) and an extensive range of 3D printing capabilities.

This “Greenpower Garage” will be made available to teams in the area on a selection of Wednesday afternoons/evening from the week beginning the 16th April up until race day in July. For more information on what the University can do to support your Greenpower venture please contact Greenpower@hull.ac.uk.

Aside from direct use of the Greenpower Garage at the University of Hull, lecturer in Mechanical Engineering, Brian Houston, is a Greenpower Ambassador and is available to come visit your school/college to give some advice or guidance where needed, Brian can also be contacted via Greenpower@hull.ac.uk.

On Monday 16th April at 5pm, we will be officially opening the doors of the University of Hull Greenpower Garage. All school mentors are invited to attend and see for yourself what support is available. Please contact us by April 12th at the very latest if you or a school representative will be attending the opening. This will also be an opportunity to discuss and share any problems that you may be experiencing with the car construction and design.
